	gnitude earthquake—an\nintensity level the country had not seen in five de
	cades. To date\, the disaster\nhas left 331 people dead\, 4\,505 injured\,
	 and 111 missing\, while damaging 202\,002\nhomes\, destroying 36\,326\, a
	nd causing the collapse of 743 buildings. The\nresponse from the current p
	resident\, Abelardo de la Espriella\, left much to be\ndesired\; instead o
	f accepting international aid or providing the food and\nresources needed 
	for national reconstruction and support for the population\, he\nchose to 
	use part of the budget destined for aid\, into producing and\ndistributing
	 soccer balls that beared his campaign slogan to those affected. He\nalso 
	used this opportunity to promote Israeli influence in the country by\nbrin
	ging in individuals who contributed nothing to the search and recovery\nef

	ndigenous and\nAfro-Colombian communities—groups that continue to face pov
